This is the story of colonisation in Darug country, we are cut off from our country, food, medicine, special places and our song lines are blocked. We cannot see our families or our country.
The Dharug yura have lived in this area along the Dyarubbin for thousands of years, we grew our yams along the Dyarubbin and farmed yams as our staple of our diet, our sacred places are here. During colonisation our people were shut off from our river, food, medicines and sacred places, our children were taken and we were fed poisonous flour and were pushed off our land.
The Dharug people have survived and we are still here and we are still trying to access our traditional places, we practice our culture and we speak the language that was silenced for a generation.
